The project here represented is made up of two phases:

- Research

The research phase includes six areas of interest:

2. The role of antiquity in the Piedmontese and Italian education system until 1961.

3. The method of diffusion of antiquity with special attention to:

a. The history of publishers

b. The modern performances of Ancient Greek Theatre

c. The cinema

4. The translation of classical texts into Italian with the help of important translators and writers such as Cesare Pavese.

5. The Ancient thought in the contemporary political philosophy.

6. Studies on Christian literature in the cultural context of Turin during the second half of the 19th century.

Dissemination of the results through five different activities:

b. The creation of a classical culture festival.

c. The creation of a portal (the “Virtual Museum of the Classical Heritage”) dedicated to the heritage of the classics in Piedmont

d. General or specific publishing on the subject. Particularly for specialists (scholars of humanistic disciplines, future teachers) there will be one or more scientific contributions aiming to show the changes in the teaching of classical disciplines, and their intersection with the evolution of the social and cultural context.

e. Conferences on the subject of the research.

Scholars from nine Departments of the University of Turin and other Italian Universities as well as others from the U.S., Spain and Japan will participate in the project.
